Some couples go all out on Valentine’s Day, but my boyfriend, Adam and I don’t think of Valentine’s Day like that, everyday is a celebration of love and our strong relationship! So when Adam told me he had a Hockey Tournament that weekend, I was excited! I love hockey (GO KINGS GO!) and Adam has been playing since we could walk. The first game was Friday night and they ended up tying the game 8/8. The next day, Valentine’s Day, we were running late due to the wonderful LA traffic. We finally got to the game in Anaheim Hills and in the 2nd period, Adam got hit. Now normally he gets right back up and into the game, but this time, he just sat there and kept touching his mouth. Then there was blood and we saw him pick something up from the ice and in the exact moment I knew it was teeth. I tried not to panic but when we came around to get some medical assistance, he spoke, and his front left tooth wiggled. I instantly panicked!!! He said it wouldn’t stop bleeding so I googled dentists in the area and called the first one that was actually open on a Saturday afternoon. We rushed over there and 4.5 hours of emergency surgery later, he walks out with 4 teeth missing. FOUR TEETH AND A BROKEN UPPER JAW. I was in complete shock, we all were. Doctor said we had to come back the next Monday to get the molding for the flipper and we thought we were in the clear! However, that Monday rolled around and Adam had got an infection and had to have the surgery done ALL OVER AGAIN. My heart just broke for him. All I kept thinking was why him? We got home, he took his medicine and all seemed okay. Around 12:30 am he started throwing up and it was on and off until 3:00am. It’s now the 2nd day since the 2nd surgery and all seems to be going okay. Any and all prayers are welcome for Adam. He has dropped a lot of weight in the past 10 days and even though he’s putting on a brave, yet very swollen face, I know his spirits could use some lifting! He’s still the same, charming, funny and handsome guy as before, but we could use some good news! This picture was taken right when we got out of the dentist on that Valentine’s Day- don’t mind his hair, his head was tilted back and it created that very cartoon-like hair do! (lol) Thank you in advanced for your prayers and positive thoughts. If you have an advice on how to insure no more infections or the best soft foods to eat, please comment below!
